Susie

Susie has a remarkable list of achievements to her name. Susie was born with Down's Syndrome which is a chromosomal defect which causes laxity of joint complexes and poor muscle tone. Intelligence is limited with associated language difficulties; this affects both physical and mental ability. Everyday movements we take for granted in life becomes a constant battle of willpower.

Despite this disability Susie has achieved fantastic goals throughout her life. In 1995 Susie competed in the USA World Games winning five gold medals and becoming World Champion. Among many other achievements Susie has also won the Frink Award, Woman of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

Susie is not only an inspirational Athlete but a dedicated Coach too. In 1996 she successfully gained her British Gymnastics Level 1 Coaching Badge in both Main Stream and Special Needs Gymnastics.

In recognition of Susie's achievements she was awarded the MBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
